Student Council and Student Government: Leadership Skills and Event Planning

Student Council is evolving! This year we're excited to announce that all students will be working in small committees that will work together to be responsible for one activity, one spirit day, and a handful of Core classes spread throughout the year! Students will be more involved than ever, and enjoy knowing that they contributed directly to the success of an awesome activity!
Building on last year's success with student officers, Student Council will have a President and a Vice President, as well as two Class Reps from each grade level. Class reps and officers will meet every other week before ASA for training (on the weeks that there is no Student Council). Watch Slack for interest surveys coming soon! Every student in Student Council will be on a small committee and feel the impact of their ideas and service!
Each class period will include a mini leadership lesson, an opportunity for groups to practice their ideas for teaching Core, and planning time in committees.
Homework for this class is planning awesome activities and carrying out each student's part in making the activity a success! Students will need to check SLACK consistently to communicate with their committees during the days between classes. We will also be inviting students to read one leadership book per semester.
Come enjoy end-of-summer pre-retreats, making breakfast for all of ASA, learning shadow leadership skills, and planning fun activities, spirit days and core classes with us!
